they say "variety is the spice of life," but our chief fitlosopher is admittedly a creature of habit. each day starts with eggs cooked in butter + topped with avocado, followed by bulletproof coffee for lunch, finished off with a piping hot bowl of bison chili that she preps in her slow-cooker for the week. the lean protein + quality fats fill her up, while the fruit + veggies flood her body with nutrients. she keeps it simple + thus simplifies her often-hectic, jam-packed daily routine - quite the feat for our goal-getting little chief. and bonus: she's never felt better! here are four reasons why eating the same thing every day can help you crush your health goals too.
1 [ups your grocery shopping game]
grocery shopping becomes exponentially less daunting when you’ve basically got your list memorized thanks to meals on repeat. whereas a long list filled with obscure ingredients you may only use once or twice can often deter you from going to the market in the first place (which is when you end up at a fast-food joint ordering alllllll the things), keeping a relatively regular, concise shopping list you’re familiar with makes this little chore seem much more palatable. it also helps you stick to your budget, which is definitely a huge plus. (pro tip: make shopping even easier with our 2-sided eat fit kit meal-planning + grocery list.)
2 [less stress at mealtime]
ever stood in front of the open fridge for what seems like an eternity, stressing over what to eat? well, when you eat the same things every day, that dilemma magically disappears. and as we all know, less stress = more health. you’ll not only avoid unnecessary fretting, you’ll conserve precious time + energy to devote to other things like crushing it at work, trying out that new exercise class, journaling gratitude, or learning how to meditate. our chief loves the fact that since she has bulletproof coffee every day for lunch, she doesn't have to stop what she's doing in the midst of a midday work groove to ponder what she should eat. bonus: the mid-day burst of energy is essentially her pre-workout energy drink, minus the jitters - with a bonus boost of focus.
3 [helps you lose or maintain weight]
research shows that people who eat the same foods every day end up consuming fewer calories. it’s called “habituation” + scientists say it could be a really useful tool for weight management. one theory: that the daily repetition causes you to lose interest in the food, thus making you less likely to overeat. streamline your daily life AND lose a couple lbs?? we’re IN! while we definitely don't count the scale as the end-all, be-all, our chief is happy to report that she has, in fact, slimmed down a wee bit since she started enjoying the same meals on a daily basis.
4 [shifts your food focus]
when you eat the same things every day, you not only have to make sure those meals are nutrient-dense enough to meet all your nutritional needs, you also inadvertently experience a shift in how you look at food. food becomes fuel rather than an emotional crutch or an expression of your ever-shifting dietary whims. and when you’re eating simply for health, the quality of your ingredients becomes paramount. our chief’s produce is typically organic - especially when it comes to the dirty dozen - and her eggs + butter are always pasture-raised (psssst, keep reading for a chance to score some of your very own!). tip: adding a dollop of butter to the skillet serious ups your egg-game.
